Effra street party – 1st July – download your window poster here

The Effra street party will take place in Mervan Road on Sunday 1st July from noon. Bring a chair and some food to share, plus plate and cutlery. The exciting news is that we now have a great line up of performers – including a Cuban band, so bring your dancing shoes…

The final planning meeting is being held on Friday 29th June at 6pm (not 7pm) at Aron’s house (18 Dalberg Road). If you can help on the day, please just come down to Mervan road at around 10am.

As well as just sharing a feast, we’re planning music, kids activities, an open mike for performers, a fire engine, a bouncy castle, a pink ice cream van and most importantly a chance to chill out, meet and share food and drink with those people you live near to. The Effra Tavern will be selling some special concoctions.

We’re looking for people to put posters in their windows, and on their gateposts. You can just download this image and print it – or there’s a black and white one down at the bottom of this post. If you can print off more. then stick some leaflets through your neighbours’ doors as well. Or email effrablog@gmail.com and we’ll send you the file.

We’re also looking for musicians, childrens’ entertainers and generally people to help out on the day. Come along to the next planning meeting, or email effrablog@gmail.com or just put it in your diary to come and help out – we’ll be there from 11, and it officially starts at 12.

Thanks to Martin Barry estate agents in Brixton for some sponsorship to pay for the bouncy castle.

Here’s the poster in black and white (download it, print in landscape and cut in half for two A5 posters):

And here’s what it looked like last year, just to get you in the mood:
