Former Talma Road resident Chris, who now teaches at Yoga Point at 122 Dalberg Road organised Brixton’s first ever Yogathon yesterday to raise money for the Prison Phoenix Trust.
She says: “It’s all to raise money to support yoga and meditation in prisons – and a couple of ex-prisoners, plus the yoga teacher from Brixton Prison are there.” One of the former prisoners, Nick, grew up in Tulse Hill, and you can read his story here.
A yogathon consists of 108 sun salutations. Some 13 yoga teachers and students participated over the course of three hours, and raised nearly £2000 in sponsorship for the Prison Phoenix Trust.
