Gas works close Brixton Road, start on 31 July and last approximately seven months. We will be progressing southwards down the A23 Brixton Road from Camberwell New Road towards Wynne Road in two phases.

Notification of major gas works: Brixton Road (A23), London

We are planning essential work to upgrade the gas network in Brixton Road (A23) from this summer. Our £2.4 million project involves the replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to south-west London long into the future. Our contractor ForeFront Utilities will undertake this work on our behalf.

So that we can minimise disruption, we have carefully consulted and planned our works in partnership with TfL and Lambeth Borough Council. Our Brixton Road project will start on 31 July and last approximately seven months. We will be progressing southwards down the A23 Brixton Road from Camberwell New Road towards Wynne Road in two phases. More information can be found on our dedicated project page here: https://www.sgn.co.uk/Roadworks/Southern-projects/Lambeth-A23-Brixton-Road/

We are also producing a bespoke project leaflet and poster that I will share with you shortly.

So that we can explain more about our work, we have organised a drop-in session in The Debenture Room at The Kia Oval, Kennington, London, SE11 5SS on Monday 3 July. You are welcome to attend at any time between 2pm and 8pm.

Members of our project team will be on hand to answer questions and talk through our plans in more detail. If you are unable to attend our drop-in session but would still like to meet us to discuss our work in more detail, please let me know.

We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, London residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

Please share this information with anyone who you believe may be impacted by our work.

I hope I have been able to reassure you of our commitment to deliver a safe project and keep you updated. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Kind regards

Dan
