Dear Mervan Road Neighbour, Sadly Mrs. Doreen Green of 43 Mervan Road passed away a couple of weeks ago while she was in The Dominican Republic. As one of the oldest and most long term residents of Mervan Road her cheery wave and happy disposition will be sadly missed by many of us. As you can imagine this has been a very difficult time for her daughter, Paulette, not just loosing her mother who she was very close to, but also having to find the funds to bring Mrs. Green home. To do this she has had to take out a loan and is now struggling to cover the cost of the funeral. The funeral will be on 9.3.18 at UCKG HelpCentre, 145 Upper Tooting Road, SW17 7TJ at 11.30 and the burial will be at 2.00 at Streatham Cemetery, Garratt Lane, if you would like to pay your respects in person. Alternatively or in addition instead of sending flowers a small donation towards the costs would be a great help to the family and help send Mrs Green off comfortably and ensure she rests in peace and according to her wishes. If you would like to help contributions can be made direct to the family .
Another local presence and voice for her community, Tina Jennings of Windrush Square Night Market. Tina, as a member of Brixton Neighbourhood Forum, spoke up on many issues, she will be missed. There will be a private funeral and a commemoration later in the late Spring. Our thoughts go to the families. A card to her son has been sent on behalf of Friends of Windrush Square and Friends of Tate library Brixton. www.brixtonsociety.org.uk
