Dexter Road Playground users are waiting, we as a community need to do more than just watch.

Latest developments ‘Heartspace’ is trying to secure funding to develop the Dexter Road playground site, to enable play activities to occur for local families.

The organisation  will have to be able to be self funding in future to develop activities in order to remain open.

There is a lot of community feeling and Local Councillors are  hoping ‘Heartspace’ works. We will meet up with Lucy Cava, at Brixton pound Cafe this Tuesday Oct 5.30pm to explore ways the wider community can make that happen. ps the Railton Road TRA (Tenants Residential Association) are meeting  later that evening.

dexterLocal residents tried last year, attended meetings, selected a provider, but need support from the wider community as both; Grove Playground  and Max Roach playground have managed (with support from YLC.)  Make sure any children  you know are signed up to Young Lambeth Coop as  its AGM is coming up.

Night-time drug activity starting again?

nw-logoWe’ve had reports of night-time drug taking and prostitution in some front gardens of Mervan Road again.

A few years ago, this quickly escalated and required a lot of policing to get rid of, so we need to act quickly.

Have you had any such problems?

If so, let us know, and contact our local Coldharbour “Safer Neighbourhoods” police team:

Missing your ceiling rose?

Ceiling roseSome local residents are getting a mold of what we believe is an original Mervan Road ceiling rose (picture attached).

If anyone is interested in getting a copy, please e-mail effrablog@gmail.com.
The cost should be between £60 and £90 (the more copies, the cheaper they will be).
Hopefully we can then also club together to get a good price on the fitting.

Mugging on Jelf Road

nw-logoPlease take care when out late, as last week a resident of Jelf Road was mugged walking home from the tube at about 11.45pm.

He was hit around the head by someone with a weapon and knocked unconscious; his wallet and two phones were stolen, and was then left bleeding on the street.

Let’s hope this is an isolated incident!

‘Community Freshview’ on Talma Road on Saturday 17th August

Picture 1 - 04.13There is going to be a ‘Community Freshview’ day on Talma Road on Saturday 17th of August, between 10am to 3pm.

‘Community Freshview’ is a Lambeth scheme, led by residents to make a difference to our streets;  this can include painting walls, trimming overgrown greenery, and removing dumped rubbish.

Lambeth council provides all the tools free – such as overalls, hedge-cutters, paint, brushes & a skip.

If you are interested in joining your neighbours in improving the way our streets look, come along at or after 10am – you can join in for just an hour or so, or the whole day; and you don’t have to live in Talma Road to join in.nw-logo

We’ll be meeting at 10am at the ‘Community Freshview’ van which will park somewhere on Talma Road, or join us during the day in the street.
