We’ve been contacted by a neighbour in Mervan road who is doing a 5 mile fun run in aid of Oxford Children’s Hospital where her friend’s 2-year old Callum (pictured) is being treated for a high grade brain tumor. Please sponsor her here http://my.artezglobal.com/PersonalPage.aspx?registrationID=455362
She writes ” As a lot of you have, or know, children about the same age as Callum you’ll understand why sensory equipment to distract children during medical procedures (to lessen pain and avoid sedation) and modern hospital accommodation for parents would be not just welcome, but essential. It’s these types of things that your money will be helping to buy.
“It’s for this reason that I’m donning my pink lycra and downloading my Kate Bush playlist to run 5 miles, aaaahhhhh!”
Effrablog says good luck!!

A local resident has got in touch with Effrablog to warn readers that there have been a spate of muggings on the corner of Mayall Road and Bob Marley Way in the late evening.
They write: ” The first time I walked around the corner and a guy grabbed me by both wrists and wrestled the phone out of my hands. The second time, I walked around the corner, and despite people being around this time as it was bonfire night, a guy pushed me to the floor and grabbed my bag and ran off with it. Obviously I am now moving out of the area but wanted to warn other females as the police told me that another girl had also been mugged recently.“
Hello Effra people
We’re a community hyperlocal website and we want this to be a proper community resource. We’ve been going about 18 months now and have a reasonable following on email and twitter. If you live in our area and want to be able to post community news updates directly on the site please email effrablog[at]gmail.com
Its a simple wordpress site and we can come round and show you how to do it….
