Help me help 2-year old Callum, says Mervan Road resident

photo (48) We’ve been contacted by a neighbour in Mervan road who is doing a 5 mile fun run in aid of Oxford Children’s Hospital where her friend’s 2-year old Callum (pictured) is being treated for a high grade brain tumor. Please sponsor her here http://my.artezglobal.com/PersonalPage.aspx?registrationID=455362

She writes ” As a lot of you have, or know, children about the same age as Callum you’ll understand why sensory equipment to distract children during medical procedures (to lessen pain and avoid sedation) and modern hospital accommodation for parents would be not just welcome, but essential. It’s these types of things that your money will be helping to buy.
“It’s for this reason that I’m donning my pink lycra and downloading my Kate Bush playlist to run 5 miles, aaaahhhhh!”

Effrablog says good luck!!

Night-time drug activity starting again?

nw-logoWe’ve had reports of night-time drug taking and prostitution in some front gardens of Mervan Road again.

A few years ago, this quickly escalated and required a lot of policing to get rid of, so we need to act quickly.

Have you had any such problems?

If so, let us know, and contact our local Coldharbour “Safer Neighbourhoods” police team:

Missing your ceiling rose?

Ceiling roseSome local residents are getting a mold of what we believe is an original Mervan Road ceiling rose (picture attached).

If anyone is interested in getting a copy, please e-mail effrablog@gmail.com.
The cost should be between £60 and £90 (the more copies, the cheaper they will be).
Hopefully we can then also club together to get a good price on the fitting.
