She writes ” As a lot of you have, or know, children about the same age as Callum you’ll understand why sensory equipment to distract children during medical procedures (to lessen pain and avoid sedation) and modern hospital accommodation for parents would be not just welcome, but essential. It’s these types of things that your money will be helping to buy.
“It’s for this reason that I’m donning my pink lycra and downloading my Kate Bush playlist to run 5 miles, aaaahhhhh!”

We’re a community hyperlocal website and we want this to be a proper community resource. We’ve been going about 18 months now and have a reasonable following on email and twitter. If you live in our area and want to be able to post community news updates directly on the site please email effrablog[at]gmail.com
Its a simple wordpress site and we can come round and show you how to do it….
There’s a community chorus that’s just started in the Brix at St Matthews. Called the Pegasus Community Chorus its part of the Pegasus Opera Company and they meet on Mondays from 7-9pm (not Wednesday as it says on the flyer). If you’re interested, email lloyd[at]pegopera.org
The wait is over…..thanks to local volunteers there will now be supervised play sessions at Dexters on Railton Road every Thursday from 3-7…finally! It’s open to all 5-16yr olds but the awesome play structure is only suitable for 8+.
There will be other play activities available and soon there will be another structure for younger ones. In the Summer holidays it will be open Mon-Fr 10-6, all supervised so once children have been registered they can be left alone with staff there. Spread the word…effrablog wonders if there is an upper age limit for that big slide? Looks awesome.
A local resident has got in touch to say that Dexter’s playground, which backs onto our grid of streets from Railton Rd, is back under Lambeth control and is soon to open supervised play sessions once a week and then full time in the holidays. They are planning an open day soon. Lambeth are hoping that it will transfer to a new provider – might be an ideal candidate for a community co-operative. If anyone is interested in getting involved, there is a meeting at 6pm tomorrow, 14th May at Max Roach adventure playground. This is a great opportunity for individuals or groups who want to get more involved in youth provision locally
To find out more about what’s happening you can contact Lambeth’s youth coop on 020 926 0136, email at firstname.lastname@example.org, follow on twitter @YoungLambeth – or just come to the meeting.
