At last… Dexters is open on Thursdays!

dexterThe wait is over…..thanks to local volunteers there will now be supervised play sessions at Dexters on Railton Road every Thursday from 3-7…finally!  It’s open to all 5-16yr olds but the awesome play structure is only suitable for 8+.
There will be other play activities available and soon there will be another structure for younger ones. In the Summer holidays it will be open Mon-Fr 10-6, all supervised so once children have been registered they can be left alone with staff there. Spread the word…effrablog wonders if there is an upper age limit for that big slide? Looks awesome.

Things happening at Dexter’s playground

dexterA local resident has got in touch to say that Dexter’s playground, which backs onto our grid of streets from Railton Rd,  is back under Lambeth control and is soon to open supervised play sessions once a week and then full time in the holidays. They are planning an open day soon. Lambeth are hoping that it will transfer to a new provider – might be an ideal candidate for a community co-operative. If anyone is interested in getting involved, there is a meeting at 6pm tomorrow, 14th May at Max Roach adventure playground. This is a great opportunity for individuals or groups who want to get more involved in youth provision locally
To find out more about what’s happening you can contact Lambeth’s youth coop on  020 926 0136, email at  coopyouthandplay@lambeth.gov.uk, follow on twitter @YoungLambeth – or just come to the meeting.
Effrablog says it cant wait to have a go on that large wooden climbing thing. Here’s more about who built it.

Have your say on a theatre for Brixton: drop in event at Dexter’s playground this Sat, 9th Feb.

Brixton-Green-family-fun-day-team2You may have heard the great news that the Brixton Green campaign to redevelop Somerleyton Road – including possibly a new theatre – is making progress and is now part of Lambeth’s official plan for the area.

There’s a consultation event for local residents being held this Saturday February 9th, at Dexter’s Adventure Playground on Railton Road (the place with the coloured railings) from 11am to 5pm. Come along and have your say. Its all very exciting.

Jumble sale at Dexter’s Adventure Playground: Sat 3rd Nov

There’s going to be a jumble sale at Dexter’s Adventure Playground on Railton Road – the land behind the coloured railings – from 11am to 4pm on Saturday. Call 07940 038438 for more info. You can set up your own stall for a £5 donation to help running costs. Looks good, not least because its a chance to check out the amazing new adventure playground itself but also because the posters say there are many things for sale “including love and courage”. Someone got some spare then?
